A bit more Jobs

The Job view allows you to focus on the details of each Job, without interfering with other jobs within the Project

Updated over a week ago

A project is the top of a hierarchy when going through your workflow, and best described as your workspace as you create a Job. By design, a Project is automatically created as a Job is created. (Note: it is mandatory for a Job to be linked to a Project)

The relationship between Projects and Jobs leads to one of the most powerful features of Field Complete, Job Sharing. Once a Project is created, multiple Jobs can be created within the Project.

  • All Jobs within a Project must have the same Service Location and Customer

  • All Jobs must have same Billing terms (Charge on-site or Bill later)

Each Job within a Project can be scheduled on a different day, assigned to different technicians or Contractors, and have a different Job scope. In fact, each Job is managed independently. In order to access the details of each Job, you would click on the Job ID.

The Job view will allow the assigned Technician/Contractor to complete the Job, without interference or interfering with another Job in the Project(if applicable). In other words, this is the exact information that would be available on the mobile app, and how the Job manager can communicate with the assigned Tech/Contractor.

Field Complete, a field service management software company, utilizes job types to categorize and organize various tasks and services within their company.

Common Job Types:

  • Service: Tasks related to repairing or maintaining existing equipment or systems

  • Maintenance: Routine upkeep and preventive care of equipment or facilities

  • Installation: Setting up new equipment or systems for customers

  • Inspection: Evaluating equipment or sites for compliance or safety

  • Consultation: Providing expert advice or assessments to clients

Job Categorization Features:

  • Organize tasks in their scheduling software

  • Assign appropriate technicians to specific job types

  • Track performance metrics for different categories of work

  • Generate reports on various service areas

Benefits of Job Type Classification:

  1. Improved dispatching: Matching technicians with the right skills to appropriate job types

  2. Enhanced reporting: Analyzing performance and trends across different service categories

  3. Streamlined scheduling: Grouping similar jobs for more efficient routing and time management

  4. Better resource allocation: Assigning tools and equipment based on job type requirements

Job tags are internal identifiers used to categorize and distinguish specific details about jobs or tasks. They provide a way to add custom qualifications or attributes to jobs that may not be easily captured by job positions alone.

Job tags can be used to indicate:

  • Certifications required

  • Skill subsets not reflected in the job position

  • Tenure or seniority requirements

  • Geographic location

  • Type of job (e.g., Service, Maintenance, Installation)

  • Lead source

Field Complete's job tasks are an integral part of its job management software, designed to streamline the workflow for field service businesses. Tasks are yet another way to communicate with onsight technicians/contractors, and assure they fully understand any responsibilities required as they complete the Job.
